API errors
The error format of the Statewide API and what each code means.
Every error is JSON with one code, {"error": "<code>"}, and a matching status.
| Status | Code | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 400 | missing_community, invalid_body | The community slug is missing, or the body is wrong. |
| 401 | unauthenticated or unauthorized | Not logged in (/api/me uses unauthorized). |
| 403 | forbidden, not_member, suspended, feature_disabled, no_unit | Logged in without access: not a member, suspended, the module is off, or no signed-on unit. |
| 404 | not_found | No such community. |
| 429 | rate_limited | Too many requests. The Retry-After header and retryAfter say how many seconds to wait. |
| 503 | busy | The service can't take it right now. Try again after Retry-After. |
| 500 | internal | Something went wrong on Statewide's side. |
