Create a community

Create your community, run the guided setup, see what it starts with, and invite members.

Start on My communities (app.statewide.gg/portal). You need a linked Discord account.

Create it

  1. Press Create Community.
  2. Enter a Name, a Slug for your addresses (such as statewide-rp) and a Timezone.
  3. Press Copy Join Key. It is shown once; you can make a new one from Members.
  4. Press Continue To Setup.

Guided setup

Each step has Skip and Next. Admin shows Resume Setup until you finish.

  1. Basics: state, county, city, logo and banner.
  2. Agencies: switch off starter agencies you don't run, rename the rest, add your own.
  3. Codes: keep the starter 10-codes and penal code, or Replace With My Own to import yours.
  4. Discord: press Add Bot, then Check Again, and add role mappings.
  5. Joining: choose a join mode.
  6. Done: a checklist of what is set up, each with a link to finish it. Press Finish Setup.

What a new community starts with

Everything is yours to rename or delete:

  • Eight starter departments with ranks, subdivisions, certifications and logos.
  • Roles: Member, Civilian, Officer, Firefighter, EMT, Dispatcher, DMV Clerk, Supervisor, Staff, Recruitment and Training. New people get Member only.
  • An open community application and closed department hiring forms.
  • Twelve MDT status codes, sixteen call dispositions, 10-codes, a penal code, lookup lists and license types.
  • Four knowledge base spaces with an example page each.

Invite members

Set the join mode in Admin, General, Joining:

  • Open: anyone with the key or an invite joins at once.
  • Approval: requests wait under Members, Pending.
  • Application: people apply first. See Applications.

Share the join key, or press Create Invite Link on Members. Regenerate Join Key retires the old key.

Require a linked Discord account is on by default, so members must link Discord before joining.

Joining grants

On Admin, Joining, pick Main only (joining gives the Member role; civilians need a seat in the Civilian department) or Main and Civilian (every new member also gets a Civilian reserve seat).
