Set up the Discord bot
Link your Discord server to your community, then map roles and pick a sync mode.
Statewide Bot connects your Discord server to your community, so Discord roles and your roster stay in step. Open Admin, Discord. You need community.discord.
Link your server
- Press Add Bot. Discord asks you to pick a server; you need Manage Server there.
- Approve the bot. It asks for Manage Roles and Manage Nicknames only.
- Back in Statewide you see "Discord server linked. The first sync is running."
A server can be linked to one community, and a community to one server. The Server card shows the server, who linked it, and whether the bot is still connected. If someone removes the bot, a banner asks you to add it again to resume sync.
Live sync on Discord role changes needs a Discord permission Statewide is waiting for. Until then, a member's roles sync when they sign in, when you press Sync Now, and on a full sync.
Role mappings
Next, say what each Discord role grants in Statewide. See Map Discord roles.
Sync modes
Newly linked servers start in Two-way. To change who leads, see Choose a sync mode.
Unlink
Unlink Server removes the link, every mapping, and everything Discord granted (roles, departments, ranks, subdivisions and certifications), and clears the Discord settings on your application forms. Grants made by hand stay. Nothing is changed in Discord itself. Type the server name to confirm. It can't be undone.
