Choose a sync mode
Decide whether Discord, Statewide or both lead your roster's Discord roles.
Pick a mode on the Sync mode card in Admin, Discord. Newly linked servers start in Two-way.

| Discord managed | Departments, ranks, subdivisions and certifications synced from Discord are read-only in Statewide and follow Discord roles. |
| CAD managed | Sync only adds. Losing a Discord role removes nothing in Statewide. |
| Two-way | Roster changes in Statewide add and remove the mapped Discord roles, and Discord role changes update the roster. Not writable roles sync from Discord only. |
In Two-way
- Promoting, adding or removing a member on the roster updates their mapped Discord roles. The roster's Discord column shows In sync, Pending, Failed or Not in server.
- A member who is pending, kicked, banned, suspended or has left loses every mapped Discord role the bot can write. Not writable roles are left alone.
- To bring Discord in line with the roster, use Push roster to Discord. See Preview and run a sync.
In Discord managed
A seat that came from Discord can't be removed on the roster, and its rank can't be changed when the department has rank mappings. Subdivisions and certifications from Discord are locked too. Callsign, badge and status stay editable, and seats added by hand are unaffected. Change the member's Discord roles instead.
