Give Discord roles on accept or deny

Have Statewide Bot add Discord roles and set a nickname when you accept or deny an application.

With a linked Discord server, the form editor has a Discord section.

  1. Pick On accept: add Discord roles and On deny: add Discord roles, up to five each. A Fan role on deny works as well as a Member role on accept.
  2. Optionally set On accept: set nickname with {name}, {username}, {dept}, {rank} and {callsign}. {callsign} | {name} gives 1A-12 | Ryker Cohen. A variable with no value skips the nickname.
  3. Save the form.

Statewide Bot only adds roles and never removes any. Its role must sit above every role it grants and the member's highest role, with Manage Roles and Manage Nicknames. Setup: Statewide Bot.

The writeback result

The application's Discord section shows how it went:

StatusMeaning
Discord QueuedWaiting for Statewide Bot.
Discord UpdatedEvery role and the nickname were set.
Discord Partly UpdatedSome worked and some were refused. Each refusal is listed with the fix.
Discord Update FailedDiscord refused everything.
Discord SkippedThe applicant isn't in the server, has no Discord linked, or the decision changed first.

Usual fixes: move the Statewide Bot role above the role in Server Settings, Roles, pick another role if one was deleted, or remove a role the form can no longer grant. Then press Retry Writeback. If you invited the bot before these permissions were required, use Re-authorize Bot.
