Statewide Docs

Set up your public site

Where your community's public website lives, what visitors see, and where to edit it.

Every community gets a public website: a home page, your departments, your staff, public documents and announcements, and a way to apply. Visitors see it before they sign in.

Your site's address

Without a custom domain, your site is at https://sites.statewide.gg/<slug>, with pages under it, such as sites.statewide.gg/statewide-rp/departments/lspd.

  • Slugs are lowercase: sites.statewide.gg/Statewide-RP redirects to sites.statewide.gg/statewide-rp.
  • Old app.statewide.gg/c/<slug>/community/... links redirect to the new address, and sites.statewide.gg on its own redirects to statewide.gg.
  • Member pages (dashboard, CAD, admin and the rest) opened on the site address send you to the member area. An unknown slug shows a not found page.

With a verified Site or Both custom domain, your site is served from that domain's root, such as https://statewiderp.example.com/departments/lspd, and the sites.statewide.gg address redirects there.

What visitors see

  • Header: your logo and name, one link per public department, Staff, public documents set to Show in nav, Apply when the Applications module is on, and Sign in. A signed-in member sees Member area instead, which opens your hub.
  • Footer: your Discord (when an invite is set), Apply, report abuse, the Terms, Privacy and Content Policy pages, and "Powered by Statewide".
  • Home: your banner, the Hero title (or your community name) and Hero text, Apply To Join when applications are open, Join Discord when an invite is set, counters for members, departments and units on duty now, Announcements (pinned first, then the newest five; hidden when there are none), and a card per public department. Before any department is public it reads "Departments Coming Soon".
  • Staff: members of your public departments of type Staff, grouped by rank, most senior first. The starter pack has no Staff department, so it reads "No Staff Listed" until you create one.

Signing in from the site

Sign in goes through your community's branded sign-in page and lands the visitor on your hub, not the cross-community portal. If they started on a page that needs membership, such as an Apply link, they come back to it. This works the same on a custom domain, where a signed-in member moves between the site and the member area without signing in again.

Your public site and the member area can sit on different addresses, and each address keeps its own session. Sign Out Everywhere on the account page ends both. See Account and sessions.

Edit the site

Most changes (site settings, departments, roster, announcements and documents) show on the next page load. Kicks, bans and Discord sync show within a minute.

Turn the site off

The Public site module in Admin, Modules controls the whole site. With it off, every public page returns not found except Apply. See Modules.

If platform moderators take your site down for a Content Policy breach, its pages return not found within about a minute and the owner sees the reason on Admin, Site. Members keep their dashboard.
