Preview and publish your site
Save drafts, preview them on the real site, publish, and restore an earlier version.
Every change in the site editor goes to a draft. Visitors see it only once you publish.
Preview and publish
- Edit as usual. The status shows Unsaved changes, Draft saved or Not saved, and Undo and Redo step through your edits. If someone else changed the page, the editor says Changed elsewhere and asks you to reload.
- Press Preview to see your draft on the real site. Only editors see it; it isn't indexed by search engines or cached.
- Press Publish to make every changed page, the theme and the menu live, or Publish page for just the page you're on. You'll see "Your page is published."
Publishing needs the theme to pass the contrast check and checks every page again. For example, a Roster block pointing at a section that is now hidden is refused. Every publish and restore is recorded in the audit log.
Restore an earlier version
Each page, and the theme and menu together, keep their last 20 published versions.
- Open Published versions of this page, or Published versions of the theme and menu.
- Pick a version and restore it.
A restore is checked against today's rules and the contrast check first. It replaces both the draft and the live copy, and counts as a new version, so another restore undoes it.
