Set your alert sounds

Choose the MDT sound and volume for each event, and when 911 and new call alerts play.

Each MDT event has its own sound. Open Settings (Ctrl+,) in the MDT and find Alerts. Changes apply at once and are saved to your membership, so they follow you to other browsers.

Browsers block sound until you interact with the page. Until you do, a banner reads "Click anywhere to enable alert sounds"; any click or key dismisses it.

Sounds and volumes

  • Each event has a sound, a volume slider and a Test button. The default sounds are on CAD defaults.
  • Master volume scales every event, and Master mute silences all except panic.
  • Detached, call updated and note sounds play only when another unit caused the change.
  • Reset To Defaults restores everything.

Panic can't be muted

Panic ignores master volume and mute. Its volume goes no lower than 30 percent, and it has no Off choice.

When alerts play

  • 911 unopened repeat: Off, 15, 30 or 60 seconds. A 911 call nobody has opened rings again at this interval.
  • New call: Off, P1 only or All.
  • 911 alerts while busy: Off, P1 only or All, while you're on a call (a 911 counts as P1). When you're free, alerts always play.
  • Read hits aloud: reads a hit banner out loud once, after the hit sound. Off by default.

For admins

  • Department minimum: in CMS, Departments, a department's General tab, 911 alerts while busy, at least (needs community.departments). Lower choices are disabled for units signed on to it, and a lower saved value is ignored.

Community default for note sounds

Admin, General, MDT alert sounds sets the Note on my call sound and volume for members who haven't picked their own.
