Sign on to the MDT
Pick your department, callsign and starting status, and sign off at the end of a shift.
Sign on to start a shift in one of your emergency services departments. If you're in none, the card tells you to enter a department join code on your dashboard or apply.
Sign on
- Open CAD. The MDT Sign On card opens.
- Pick the Department.
- Enter a Callsign, up to 12 characters, such as
1A-12(it is upper-cased). If the department has a callsign pattern, the card shows it and your callsign must match. When your community takes callsigns from the roster, pick yours from the list. - Pick a starting Status. It defaults to the first Available code, or the first status in the list (dispatch units start On Duty).
- Press Sign On or Enter. Esc goes back to the dashboard.
Your name and badge number come from your roster entry. You land on that department's board.
Good to know
- A callsign in use is refused: "Callsign 1A-12 is on duty (COHEN, R). Pick another."
- You hold one unit per department. Already on duty there (in another tab, say)? Choose Resume Unit or Sign Off Other Session. Units in other departments show under "Also on duty".
Sign off
Use File, Sign off (Ctrl+Alt+O), or pick an off-duty status. If you're on a call, Statewide asks first and clears you from it.
A supervisor with units.manage_any can force a unit off duty with Off on the board, and can mark its duty session for review.
