Use the MDT

What the MDT is, who can sign on, and what is on the screen.

The MDT is where police, fire, EMS and dispatch work during a shift. Open CAD from your community dashboard.

Who can use it

You need an active seat in a law enforcement, fire, EMS or dispatch department, and that type's access (leo.access, fire.access, ems.access or dispatch.access). The starter Officer, Firefighter, EMT and Dispatcher roles carry it. A department whose module (LEO, Fire, EMS or Dispatch) is off doesn't appear.

The screen

  • Menu bar: File (Edit Identifier, Settings, Fullscreen, Back to dashboard, Sign off), View (Compact or Comfortable), Tools (Status, Command Palette, Penal Code, 10-Codes) and Help (Keyboard Shortcuts, plus your community's Discord and website when set). Your department, callsign and name sit on the right.
  • Toolbar: Board, Search, Returns, Records, BOLO, Warr, Hist, My Call, New Call, Review, Penal and 10-Codes. Board, Penal and 10-Codes always work; New Call needs permission to create calls, and My Call works while you're attached to a call. The rest show "Not available yet". Your status and the PANIC button are on the right.
  • Board: the LEO board, the dispatch board, or for Fire/EMS the units on duty.
  • Status bar: connection (Connected, Reconnecting, or Offline after 30 seconds, with a banner that data may be stale), your callsign and status, your call or "No active call", how many dispatchers are on ("Dispatch: none, self-dispatch" when none) and the community clock.

Edit Identifier changes your callsign (with Save as my default) and location without signing off. Back to dashboard leaves you on duty. Every key is listed under Keyboard shortcuts.

Duty time

Signing on starts a duty session and signing off ends it, however the sign-off happens. Your last 30 days show on the roster. A session longer than the department's limit, or one marked for review on a forced sign-off, doesn't count until reviewed.
