Let certifications expire

Give a certification a validity period, renew it with a new pass, and see what happens when it expires.

On the department's Subdivisions & Certifications tab, a certification has a valid days box.

  • Empty means it never expires. This is the default.
  • Otherwise enter a number of days. A pass grants the certification until that many days after the pass date (UTC).

The roster's Certifications column shows the date: "exp 2026-11-30" while valid, and "expired 2026-11-30" in red once the date has passed. A certification is expired the day after its date.

Renewal

A new pass of the same course renews the certification with a fresh expiry date counted from the day of the pass, and clears the expired mark.

When one expires

  • The member is notified.
  • It is dropped from the member's profile and the public department roster. The roster in the CMS still lists it as "expired".
  • If a Discord role mapping depends on it, the member's Discord roles are worked out again without it.
  • One audit entry records it, once.
