Number and tag rules

Number your rules 1, 1.1, 1.2 and tag each rule with what breaking it leads to.

Rule pages read best with numbered sections and a clear consequence for each rule.

Number your rules

  1. In the document editor, turn on Rule numbers in the toolbar, or Number sections 1, 1.1, 1.2 in Settings.
  2. Use Section for each rule (1, 2, 3) and Subsection under it (1.1, 1.2).

Readers see the same numbers. The numbers are generated, not typed, so a link like #2.1 keeps working when you reorder sections. Rules can also be numbered as Title and Section (Title 8, Section 8.2).

Set up severity tags

You need docs.manage.

  1. Open Documents, Spaces, then Severity tags.
  2. Add up to six tags, each with a name, a short Code (up to 16 letters, numbers, dots and hyphens, such as 10-93) and a Color (Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, Purple, Blue or Gray). For example Written warning, Temporary ban and Community removal.

Tag a rule

In the editor, put the cursor in a heading and pick its tag, or write ## Section {severity=10-93} in Markdown. Readers see a coloured marker on the rule and a legend on the page.
