Map postals to streets

Name the streets and area of each postal, one at a time or from a CSV.

Each postal can name up to four streets and one area, so call entry autofills. Streets come from the Streets lookup list.

Map one postal

  1. On Admin, Postals, press Edit on the postal. The Streets column shows its current streets.
  2. Pick up to four streets and an Area. The pickers search your lists.

A street not in the list is refused, so stored streets always match call entry.

Import a mapping

  1. Press Import Streets and choose a CSV:

    code,street1,street2,street3,street4,area
    101,Alta Street,Vinewood Boulevard,,,Alta
    102,Strawberry Avenue,,,,
  2. Pick a mode: Upsert sets the postals in the file and leaves the rest; Replace also clears the streets of postals the file leaves out.

  3. Turn on Add to street list to add unknown streets. With it off, a row naming one is an error.

  4. Check the preview (changed, unchanged or error) and import. Nothing is written while any row has an error.

Export Streets CSV downloads the mapping in the same format.

CSV rules

  • code and street1 are required; street2 to street4 and area (always last) are optional. Without area, stored areas stay.
  • Streets match the list ignoring case and are stored in its spelling. Blank cells are skipped. Order counts: the first two fill a call's Location.
  • Errors: no streets ("Add at least one street", or "Add at least one street or an area" with an area column), a code with no postal (upload postals first), a repeated code, a street repeated on a row, or a street starting with =, +, - or @. In Upsert, a row with only an area changes just the area.
