Set up ranks and subdivisions
Add ranks, subdivisions and certifications to a department.
Open the department in CMS, Departments. Ranks, subdivisions and certifications each have their own tab.
Ranks tab
List ranks most senior on top. Join codes and accepted applications start members at the bottom rank.
Each rank has:
- A name and an abbreviation.
- A Command switch. Command ranks show under High Command on the department page.
- The role it grants, and a colour.
- Department permissions, so the rank can run its own department. See Let ranks run their department.
A department needs at least one rank. A rank in use by members or an application form can't be deleted until they move.
Subdivisions & Certifications tab
Add subdivisions (such as SWAT) and certifications (such as K-9 Handler), each with a name and an abbreviation.
- A subdivision can carry a short description for its tab on the public page.
- A certification can have valid days so it expires. See Certification expiry.
